The Idaho Mining Association is fortunate to have the J.R. Simplot Company as a strong member of our organization.
Simplot’s vision and innovation has helped it become one of the largest privately held companies in the world, and through its leadership it has set new standards in agriculture, business, science and mining.
Critical to its efforts is a focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility. As we know from its work here in Idaho at its Smoky Canyon phosphate mine, Simplot strives to make sure that it is a wise steward of our state’s resources.
According to the company: “Broad-based efforts are made at the facility to continually meet and exceed safety goals. Lands are reclaimed by close work with the United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and other state and federal regulatory agencies to minimize and mitigate environmental impacts.”
The company has an excellent video showing its overall approach to sustainability and stewardship. Click on the video below to watch!
